形態特徵

Shrubs or trees, subglabrous, puberulous, or tomentose with white or light brown or brown multicellular hairs.
Leaves ovate, triangular-ovate to triangular, 6–20 cm long 3.5–12 cm wide, subglabrous or puberulous or tomentose on surfaces, apex acute, acuminate or short caudate, base truncate, subcordate, or acute, margin entire or remotely serrulate, lateral veins 4 or 5 pairs; petioles 1.5–10 cm long, subglabrous or puberulous or tomentose.
Inflorescence a compound cyme with 2–3 branches, very rarely a simple cyme, axillary or subterminal, subglabrous or puberulous or tomentose and glandular, bracteoles usually linear, sometimes elliptic; peduncle 2–5 cm long. Flowers white; calyx greenish, becoming purple, 10–13 mm long, subglabrous or tomentose outside, 5-lobed, lobes ovate or triangular ovate, 3-veined; corolla tube ca. 2 cm long glabrous outside, puberulous inside, lobes oblong, ca. 1 cm long, 0.5 cm wide; stamens 4, exserted.
Fruit blue, globose, subtended by reddish calyx.
Many intermediate forms, ranging from nearly glabrous variation (=var. <i>fargesii</i>) to tomentose (var. <i>ferrugineum</i>) can be seen in Taiwan.

台灣 : common throughout the island from low to medium elevations.
